Bike Oven Tutorial Series - Wheel truing and straightening

duchamp_wheel.jpgWednesday October 15, 7:00pm - 10:00pm

Our second tutorial will focus on wheel truing (straightening) and spoke adjustment. There are no prerequisites for this session and no prior mechanic experience is required. Anyone is welcome to attend. You will be given a brief overview of wheel design, construction, evaluation, tensioning, spoke replacement and tools and will then have an opportunity to practice on actual wheels.

Shop wheels will be used, but please bring your own as well for extra practice.

Class size is limited to 6 students. Secure your spot by emailing David Matsu at: david.matsu at gmail dot com.

First confirmed, first served. Walk-ins will only be admitted if class size permits.

(Note: the shop will be closed for this class. No other shop use will be allowed while in session.)

The Oven’s tutorials are designed to help new and current volunteers get up to speed on various common repair tasks we see in the shop so that they can participate in the madness we call the BikeOven…priority will be given to those who want to become full fledged volunteers. But we can fill open spaces with anyone who is simply interested in gaining new skills.

Unfortunately, this session is completely booked full. But if you are interested in future sessions, please still contact us and we will notify you about our next tutorial.

I can try to be there tonight. My boss is doing interviews, but hopefully we’ll be done by six, so I’ll make it down as soon as I can.
