Bike Oven Tech Training – Wheel Truing Again

March 25, 2009
7:00 pm

Hey you bumpy wheeled ridazz! Come by the Bike Oven on Wednesday night and learn the basics of wheel truing.

Wednesday Mar 25, 7:00pm – 10:00pm

This class will focus on wheel truing (straightening) and spoke adjustment. There are no prerequisites for this session and no prior mechanic experience is required. Anyone is welcome to attend. You will be given a brief overview of wheel design, construction, evaluation, tensioning, spoke replacement and tools and will then have an opportunity to practice on actual wheels.

Shop wheels will be used, but please bring your own as well for extra practice.

Class size is limited to 6 students. Secure your spot by emailing Josef at: ubrayj02 at yahoo dot com. Or call: 310-902-5439

First confirmed, first served. Walk-ins will only be admitted if class size permits.

(Note: the shop will be closed for this class. No other shop use will be allowed while in session.)

The Oven’s tutorials are designed to help new and current volunteers get up to speed on various common repair tasks we see in the shop so that they can participate in the madness we call the BikeOven…priority will be given to those who want to become full fledged volunteers. But we can fill open spaces with anyone who is simply interested in gaining new skills.

A suggested donation of $10 is requested – but if you’re broke you’re broke.

Caste no bar.

Wednesday March 11, 7:00pm – 10:00pm

The Bike Oven presents the class, “Spring Cleaning!”.

Join Chicken Leather and his group of comrades as they navigate the world of bike repair in an effort to get you and yours on the road.

The class will cover basic maintenance of a bicycle (in order to ready it for the Friday night ride of your choice) including: brake tuning, drive train cleanin’, bike washing, and shortcuts, tomfoolery, prestidigitation, and the irrepressible Chicken Leather’ witty banter and effervescent personality and body odor.

Students should bring their own bikes to work on if possible. Limited shop bikes will be available. Birth control optional.

A suggested donation of $10 is requested. Donation fee waived for
current volunteers.

Class is limited to 8 students. RSVP by emailing us at info@bikeoven.com
