Bike Oven Logo Submissions

I put out a call on MidnightRidazz.com a few days ago asking for some help: we need a logo, design, or insignia that we can put on t-shirts, our web-site, stickers, membership cards, and that I can get tatooed on my back.

The original request for some help with the logo yielded some very positive results! Someone came up with a very sharp looking homepage design, and we got three potential logos submitted.

Bike Oven Hours

Bike Oven Crew Getting Busy

Tuesday, August 28, 2007 was a slow night, so the Bike Oven crew spent time restoring bikes and making improvements to the shop, and having our paper and pencil records put into a spreadsheet.

There were three rides/events last night, so that explains part of the lack of people later in the evening. Just in case confusion about when we’re open has kept people from coming, I thought I’d post our regular hours:

Mondays - 7 to 10 p.m.
Tuesday to Thursday - 6 to 10 p.m.
CLOSED ON FRIDAY
Saturday - B.O.XX (Ladies Only) - 1 to 4 p.m.
Sunday - 1 to 4 p.m.

The Bike Oven is located at 3706 N. Figueroa St. Los Angeles, CA 90065 (two blocks from the Heritage Square Gold Line station, near the intersection of Pasadena Ave./Marmion Way and Figueroa).

Oh! I almost forgot - we’ll be closed this Thursday, August 30, 2007 for our first big volunteer/crew meeting. We have a lot of things that need to be done, and we’re going to spend an hour or two figuring out who is going to do what, and what we’re going to do. A post meeting ride is definitely in order, so bring your bike!

Frogtown Artwalk and Midnightridazz Pre-Party

This Saturday, August 25, 2007, after Bike Oven X.X. closes shop, a crew of cyclists are going to leave the Bike Oven, at around 5:30 p.m., and head towards photographer Paul Redmond’s studio in Frogtown. We’ll depart from the Bike Oven (3706 N. Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA 90065) at around 5:30 p.m. and ride to Paul Redmond’s Studio (1839 Blake Ave. #6, Los Angeles CA 90039).

We’re heading to Frogtown to take part in the annual Frogtown Artwalk and to get revved up for the Midnight RidazzBig Ass Summer Ride” happening later in the evening in North Hollywood.

This is still a beta version of our new web-site, but I was so excited about this new video I had to post it.

Mondays 7 to 10 p.m.
Tuesday to Thursday 6 to 10 p.m.
CLOSED ON FRIDAY
Saturday - B.O.XX (Ladies Only) - 1 to 4 p.m.

Wordpress Themes For Review

Yesterday at work, I whiled away quite a few hours looking at different Wordpress themes. I’ve been really taken by the NYC Streets Rennaisance site “Streetsblog”, so I was looking for something that had color tones and layouts similar to that site.

Here are a few Wordpress templates I thought were appropriate:

  • WP INSPIRAT
  • Seashore 1.0
  • PGREEN 1.0
  • Buggy Theme 1.0
  • LIGHT CMS 1.2
  • This next option is a more elaborate Wordpress ‚Äútheme‚Äù. It is more like a web-site template - it is a Content Management System style site, that focuses on static page management. I liked how modifiable it was (like other CMS systems) but how it remained Wordpress (so we don‚Äôt have to learn something totally out of the ordinary to manage it).

  • DRIKATRUU JELLY 1.1W

[UPDATE on 8/22/07 at 9:51 a.m.: The Wordpress theme site has gone crazy - I cannot access any of the themes I’ve linked to. I’m sorry for wasting your time - everything was working fine last night! WTF internet?]

[UPDATE on 8/22/07 at 12:01 p.m.: I’ve reinstalled the Wordpress blog software after completely destroying the site by bumbling around in the “dashboard”.]
