Bike Oven Class Series - Bicycle Evaluation

Wednesday October 29, 7:00pm - 10:00pm

Learn to evaluate an entire bicycle to determine repairs and adjustments required to put it into optimum working order. Condition of wearing surfaces, bearings, controls, and other components will be examined non-intrusively, that is, without disassembly. Needed repairs and extent of repair will be noted on an evaluation sheet to be provided as class material.

After demonstration portion of class, students will evaluate their own (or Oven supplied) bicycle in the manner presented. Students will then complete their own evaluation sheets. No tools will be needed or used, nothing will be disassembled or repaired. All evaluation will be done by sight, sound, and feel. No prerequisites for this class. No hablamos Español. Nous ne parlons pas français. Wir sprechen nicht Deutsches.

Email info@bikeoven.com for class reservation. Limit eight students.

(Note: the shop will be closed for this class. No other shop use will be allowed while in session.)

Shop wheels will be used, but please bring your own as well for extra practice.

Class size is limited to 6 students. Secure your spot by emailing David Matsu at: david.matsu at gmail dot com.

First confirmed, first served. Walk-ins will only be admitted if class size permits.

(Note: the shop will be closed for this class. No other shop use will be allowed while in session.)

The Oven’s tutorials are designed to help new and current volunteers get up to speed on various common repair tasks we see in the shop so that they can participate in the madness we call the BikeOven…priority will be given to those who want to become full fledged volunteers. But we can fill open spaces with anyone who is simply interested in gaining new skills.

Unfortunately, this session is completely booked full. But if you are interested in future sessions, please still contact us and we will notify you about our next tutorial.

Saturday: Art Show at the Bike Oven

10.10.08

THE UNSTEALABLE BIKE
IS THE THEME FOR THIS MONTH’S ART SHOW AT THE BIKE OVEN

We are restructuring the art shows so that we get more bike themed shows. Everyone and anyone is welcomed to bring art related to the theme. It could be a bike it could be anything really but remember we just have one wall. Think about the ultimate beaterbike. The sole purpose of the beater is to detract from the notion of stealing. That’s one idea but be clever, this is your shinning moment. You could leave it any amount of time up to two weeks from the start of the show.

There will be a drop off time on Friday before the show Saturday. Friday you will be able to drop off in the afternoon 3pm to 7pm and then we’ll ride off to midnight ridazz OR THE PASADENA CICLE ART RIDE. There will be a friday night social that Dingo’s been doing Friday nights in his efforts to bring the eastside fun back.
