Dave, your requested items added. Spindles are almost non-existant at the moment at Niagara. Axle nuts will fit our NOS steel wheels.

Linda, cables and bmx chain ring bolts ordered. Nipple come in 1/2 inch and 5/8 inch. I ordered the latter. Let me know if this is not OK.

Steve, I don't know what you mean by head set lock rings. Head sets have lock nuts, is this what you mean? Not the same as BB lock rings. BB lock rings not available from Niagara. "Wald" headset lock nuts ordered (see below for entire current order).

Niagara order was received yesterday (8/4/08) and all items placed into stock. Last night I cleared away a space behind the counter and above the existing new parts cabinet and placed the yellow small parts bin there. I labeled and placed the new small parts in the drawers and priced them. PLEASE do not crap up this area.

Winona's tyres came in and she reimbursed us for the amount. Steve's vulcanizing fluid is back-ordered. My items came in and I will reimburse. JHarv's items came in and he owes $25 reimbursement.

We can now just check this parts cabinet and order more of these small parts when necessary. The parts price list was revised and will be posted under the glass counter top.

Inside the new parts cabinet below the yellow parts rack are the new BB cup sets, new drive chains, new cogs, new cables, etc.

I'm going to make a chain suggestion. A lot of the bikes that come through and we fix up end up being seven or eight speed bikes (especially the mountain bikes, but several road bikes too). Let's throw a couple of 7/8 speed chains in there for those bikes, and make them available to anyone who needs them. I know a couple of people whose bikes we couldn't get to shift smoothly because the chains were just a hair too wide for the front derailleurs (which were perfectly good 8spd derailleurs, so there was no reason to swap them out).

I'm pretty sure the Z chains come in a 7/8 speed size:

Both are not much more expensive than the Z30 chains that we're buying, and will work with the increased number of cogs in the rear.

Also, $0.80 a nipple is WAAY to expensive for nipples. Even if they are Wheelsmiths. These are much cheaper:

Niagara order received. I sorted and checked all items. OOS (out of stock are: Sturmey Archer indicators and rear cable hangers. All other items will be brought to the shop tomorrow, Monday.

Dave: You can use these order lists, above, as a basis for items that we get from Niagara. By comparing the lists, you can see which items are frequently ordered. Offhand, I would say that brake and shift cables are the most frequently used item. Then come chains.

I will reimburse $21 for my items. I also took 2 10mm axle nuts and one brake cable to replace my own new stock that was used on an RTR bike.

FYI - we have eight 3/32" chains and nine 1/8" - not sure if that affects your order qty
Also, not sure if Niagara is best source, but we are down to one single-speed freewheel (17t)

I did not know that. Can whoever is there next write "single speed only" in marker on those chains? I'm sure there'll be some confusion on what works with what if it isn't made very clear. Thanks Harv

I don't think they came from FPLA. Maybe Steve and I bought them when we got stuff from that shut down bike shop? I don't think so, but it is possible. Not sure...
